While classroom learning sets the foundation, everything truly comes together when you step onboard. Onshore education can lack the exact equipment and procedures you'll require when on the vessel.
Tried and tested since 2010, our training goes beyond just improving procedures. Our aim is to transform your crew into a highly skilled and cohesive unit, ready to tackle emergencies with exceptional expertise and professionalism.
We'll ensure every crew member knows their role and understands the 'why' behind their actions, demonstrating their competency. This provides guests and owners with a heightened sense of safety and confidence in their surroundings.
Additionally, Captains will discover that there's no need for micro-management. Instead, they can focus on strategic decisions, informed by the valuable information provided by the empowered crew and On Scene Commander. It's a game changer for maritime excellence.
Da Gama Maritime were the first company to bring onboard crew training to the industry.
Ideally suited for both new build and operational vessels. This training and assessment is designed to train the crew so they are competent in their roles and substitute roles they carry out during a fire emergency. This course covers the safety procedures crew should follow in a familiar environment with their own firefighting equipment.
This Flag State accredited course is designed to give crew members who hold a responsibility for the safety of passengers in emergency situations, the essential education and training in crisis management and human behaviour. This meets the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements, as specified in A-V/2 paragraph 3 of the STCW Code.
Whilst no longer a requirement to submit a formal risk assessment to the Flag State for a vessel to navigate primarily on an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), MGN 285 strongly recommends a risk assessment is conducted and held onboard when vessels are looking to transition to primary means of navigation by electronic means.
If you work onboard a passenger ship and your muster list duties require you to assist passengers in emergency stations prior to being assigned any shipboard duties, you must complete training in Crowd Management. The training is ship specific and recognised for Continuing Professional Development via the Nautical Institute. There is a requirement to refresh this training every five years.
We've expanded our portfolio to include Lithium-ion Battery Safety. Our online training programme identifies the different types of lit-ion batteries, their construction and potential hazards. You'll learn how to maintain and understand the unique characteristics of battery fires. No matter which member of crew you are, this training will equip you with the necessary expertise to handle this type of battery safely and efficiently. By opting for the online training, you can conveniently learn at your own pace and schedule. Crew who are on rotation also have the ability to join in via Teams or Zoom.
