- Navigation account managers
Da Gama Maritime is a south coast based company who work with many of the finest Superyachts in the world enabling their command teams to navigate safely.
The service, expertise and training we provide is the best in the business and has allowed us to grow by reputation alone. Our team consists of both experienced mariners who completely understand the duties and responsibilities of those working on the bridge of a ship and enthusiastic individuals to whom a high standard of customer service is absolute and who want to learn. To that end, we are now actively looking for other like-minded personnel who don't necessarily have to be as experienced to join our team.
The right person will be dedicated to want to help the bridge team of Superyachts and have a strong professional ethos in identifying what the client really needs while working with them to ensure the navigation outfit meets the necessary regulatory standards through the provision of physical stores and electronic licences.
We would love to hear from candidates who can deliver at pace in an operational environment, ideally within the maritime industry and who share our passion for customer service. It is not necessary for the right candidate to have a background in the specifics of navigation but they must be quick to learn, dedicated to high standards and professional in their work. All necessary training and product awareness will be provided through a controlled and dedicated learning environment.
Although based in our office in Chichester, due to the nature of the work, there is a requirement to be on call out of hours and travel occasionally to Europe and the Caribbean to visit clients and attend industry events. In return we offer a competitive salary and bonus scheme, ongoing training and development and the opportunity to get involved in other aspects of the business growth.
Holiday entitlement is 4 weeks paid per year with a company pension scheme included. Starting salary is based around the capabilities and initial product knowledge of the applicant but will rise at the end of a 6 month probationary period and has then been rising for current staff at a rate well above inflation.

Even if you aren't available within the next few months, we’d like to hear from you as company expansion will necessitate a requirement for further staff on an on-going basis.
- Consignment operative
To support the Navigation Account Managers, we are looking for a competent individual who is able to take over the entire consignment department of the company. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy, an ability to deal with multiple suppliers and shipping agents in order to ensure all items order from and dispatched to our clients are done professionally and on time.
The right person will be given specific training in company procedures but will be expected to demonstrate competence in MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel. Although we use a bespoke website for monitoring our clients orders, much time will be spent on various supplier websites to place orders for electronic licences and physical products. Written communication must be legible and precise to ensure accuracy and minimise disruption of orders in and out of the company. A clear, confident, polite telephone manner is necessary for dealing with suppliers and clients while also ensuring account managers are kept informed of order progress and in particular any delays with shipments to clients.
Based at our office in Chichester, the individual will have a keen eye for quality control ensuring the stores received are to our high standard prior to being carefully wrapped for onward dispatch to clients across the globe. They will also be responsible for ensuring products in our online catalogue are kept up-to-date in both the latest editions and prices. The position is a mixture of desk and computer work combined with physical work in the handling of goods within the consignment area and can result in many hours on your feet. As such the right person must be capable of handling packages individually on a regular basis. This is not a position which can be done remotely or at home however the company has an in-force Covid policy to protect all employees.
Although working within an office team, there may be extended periods during the day when you're working alone, particularly if Covid restrictions remain in place. Help will always be on hand but you will be expected to quickly pick up the job requirements and take actions on your own initiative in accordance with company policies and procedures.
This role is initially based on 6 hours per day from 0800 - 1400, five days per week and paid on an hourly basis. Hours may fluctuate particularly during busy periods when longer days may be required but notice will be given on this as far in advance as possible.
